back to the 70s

Fortunately for my mom who, despite the skinny jeans, NEVER gave up the wide-leg trousers, the 70s fashion is BACK IN BUSINESS!  White, beige or black they always gave an elegant look to a woman, making her body look flawless. Seems like the modern interpretation of the Abba-like style became much sweeter and softer as designers projected their dreams in pastels and soft fabrics.

actually, what most of us consider 70s fashion began in the 60s. Bell-bottoms, the grand-father of wide-leg trousers, first gave the sparkle for the disco era.

  1. I have a "fashion question"....I have a crushed velvet bodysuit (wide-legged much like the shiny red number in the picture above in your "Back to the 70s" post)...mostly black, there's a bit of red at the bust...rounded neckline w/black piping, not very low-cut, has spaghetti straps that crisscross in the back. Planning to possibly wear this to a late 60s/early 70s-themed charity event. Shoes & accessories will be easy. My problem...something warmer to wear over it (besides a winter coat), since it has no big flowing sleeves as many of them did...and I'm very cold-natured. :( I have searched photo after photo, and I really don't see much...they either had sleeves or were worn sleeveless. What could I get away with? Should I have something made? Or just figure out a completely different outfit? *sigh*

    Thanks, much!

  2. Hi, Christy!
Thank you for asking my opinion!
I know you are supposed to wear a 70s outfit and I think your crushed velvet bodysuit is really great for this event but it may need a little bit of updating. That's why I think you could wear a fur coat over it, either short or long. That could help you bring a touch of today's fashion to the groovy 70s. I attached some photos for you to have an idea of how it looks.
Hope I've been helpful and please ask me anything if you find yourself stuck in a fashion problem:)
